"How many employees do you have?" I've always wondered, why are they asking me this question? Does it give them a better feel for how big my business is? Does it put me in a different category than other agencies?

Actually, I chuckle because it means absolutely nothing. Oh wait, yes it does, it means higher payroll taxes, higher overhead, and more headaches. I'm not saying employees are headaches because I've had some really good ones. There's nothing more rewarding than an employee taking ownership in your business.

When we incorporated back in 2007 at Mooreshots Direct, we had a goal of providing one-on-one attention with our clients and partners, and we've stuck to that formula. We hire the best talent available for every project. Our production partner, Mike Greif, has been with us basically since the inception. I had the luxury of working with him while he was production manager at KNDU back in the late 80's, while I was serving as Sports Director. I also worked with him from 1997 to 2003 when I returned and worked in sales. We have done many projects together, and captured nice awards along the way.

More and more businesses are going to telecommuting, working from home, and employees working like independent contractors. It cuts down on overhead, and passes through the savings to the customers. That is our motto here too. We want to make sure everyone has fresh messages out there, in the most efficient way possible. Often times we only have one chance, and its pivotal to put our best foot forward at all times. We treat their investment in advertising like it was our own. We hire entrepreneurs because they get the work done, in a timely matter.

So the next time someone asks you how many employees you have maybe you follow up with a question of your own.

"Does it matter?"

I had two years left to graduate from college but didn't have any money. I needed something to do to get back on my feet.

That's when I got a call that changed my life. It was from the Nordstrom family.

Taking a job at Nordstrom was one of the pivotal things in my life. It allowed me to have some responsibility and make good money as well. It provided me great benefits, better yet, great training. It was at Nordstrom that I learned "the customer is always right".

There's lots of testimonials and stories out there since the passing of Blake Nordstrom. He was a true leader that demonstrated the importance of letting people run with their potential, and he always did it with a smile on his face.

I was fortunate to work in the same building as Blake when I did my time at Nordstrom at the Café, Shipping and Receiving, and Brass Connection. It was there that I learned the Nordstrom way, and it was the best training ground anyone could ask for. I loved my time there, and I will never forget it. Blake had such a positive presence at the store because the way he treated others, and his leadership. He was always a positive influence, and he had fun doing it.

The Nordstrom family lost a great one, and I'm truly grateful that I was able to be part of it. I still use all of the same principles today in business that I learned during my time at the Bellevue Store. I can't thank the family enough for the great training I received, at a time when it was needed most.
It's the 26th of November of 2018 and I'm sitting here in my office thinking to myself, 'where has the time gone'? It's been 11 years now at Mooreshots Direct and a day doesn't go by that I don't think about how we got started.

So here we go.

I never had ambitions of being an advertising agency. I really didn't. We started out with an upscale direct mail product called Gloss Pak, and everything evolved from there. I was working long hours selling the product, producing the product, collecting for the product, and trying to deliver results to clients so they could see the impact. We were forced to make an executive decision moving forward. It was time to switch gears.

“When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge.” —Tuli Kupferberg

Six months into this thing I had 12 agency clients on my lap and we were off and running with Mooreshots. It was time to embrace what we never had ambitions of doing and run with it. We didn't have time for Gloss Pak anymore. We were a full blown advertising agency.

We never looked back.

As I zoom out now there's plenty that we could have changed along the way. We focused on all the things we do well and kept things simple. We tell stories and tell other people's stories. We compare results of campaigns, some are good, and as always in advertising, some we push under the rug. One thing remains constant, we work hard every day to gain market share for our clients and partners. We treat every decision as if it was our own. We look at every situation as if it was our own business. I think we make better decisions and are more efficient because of it.

Everyone needs a mentor.

One of our B2B products

All of us have that one person that has been instrumental in our success. In my case his name is Danny Traffas. When I was thinking of going out on my own he was the first person I called. After talking to him I didn't need to talk to anyone else. He assured me and guided me through the process. He was a great support system. Little did I know he would become my friend, my golf buddy, and most importantly, my mentor. A few years ago Danny died suddenly and a day doesn't go by when I wish I could pick up the phone and call him. He was always there for me regardless of the situation, and his positive attitude always got me through the tough times. He gave me the opportunity to work in many radio and TV markets and help them with their advertising and drive revenue. It was a nice addition to what I was already doing. We sold a B2B product all over the country helping TV and Radio groups gain market share. It was a huge success early on. We had a great partnership together. He even called me "Touchdown Tommy".

I miss Danny every day.

As we move into another year, we continue to grow, learn, and adjust to the changing environment in marketing and advertising. The strong momentum of digital media is taking a strong hold. Regardless of what you hear or read, TV continues to be a powerhouse-the 800 lb gorilla, and in our market and the surrounding ones, radio still serves its purpose. But one thing remains the same. The great people of this community and the areas around it make it a very formidable place to be. It's our clients and partners who play a big role in making it so great. There is no bigger compliment than you putting your trust in our hands.

We are very thankful for that.

No words can explain the atmosphere, beautiful Fall colors, the pageantry of college football, and our beloved Cougs pulling off a win in a jam packed Martin Stadium.

There was a lot to be proud of on this Saturday. I was worried going in that the distractions of the week would be just too much for these young kids. Mike Leach might have pulled off his best coaching week as a Cougar, I can't remember a first half that was written any better with Oregon only having one yard of total offense going into their last drive of the first half. Textbook to say the least. The Cougars maintained possession most of the first half, keeping Oregon's highly touted Quarterback off the field. He really wasn't even a factor in this one.

The bus ride up was festive as always, recapping an awesome GameDay segment that I'm sure was special to anyone who has spent anytime in the Pacific Northwest, or in the Pac 8, Pac 10, and Pac 12 for that matter. ESPN put their best foot forward and pulled off a dream show.

There's arguably only 8 to 10 teams in college football that really have a legitimate chance for a national championship, which is another reason why this day was so special. It's one of those days that will always be remembered. It will be in the media guide for years to come, there will be pictures hanging on the walls of the Cougar Football Complex, memories saved on smart phones. Butch and Lee Corso dancing around the set. People across the country finally learned what it's really like to be a Cougar. Ol' Crimson made its way back home.

GameDay finally made it to Pullman.

As Reece Davis said to the crowd prior to the open, "Holy Shit!".

That pretty much sums up this day.

A Saturday to remember.

My phone has been blowing up since it was announced that the crew will be coming to Pullman, I never realized it had this much magnitude.

The most heated debate is who will be the Guest Picker, to me it's a no-brainer. The main reason they are coming is the years of Ol' Crimson being waved on Gameday for some 200+ games over the years. I don't have the exact number but who really cares at this point, right?

I can only see one thing happening. Tom Pounds enters holding the flag and gets his chance to tell the story in front of a nationwide audience. Lee Corso puts on the Butch hat after he picks the Cougars to win and the rest is history. ESPN will be greeted like never before, it will be a beautiful fall day in the Palouse, and more importantly it will be a recruiting frenzy for the WSU program. This will be Mike Leach's biggest year of gathering the best talent in the country. Young student athletes will get a first hand look at how special it is to be a Cougar. (WSU Cougar, not that other type:)

The best part of this? Coug fans will be able to hang together like they always do on a Saturday, this time in front of a national stage. We also get a chance to say goodbye and pay tribute to Bob Robertson, who announced his retirement this week after 52 years covering WSU Football.

Sounds pretty good to me.Tom Moorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730177275245654046noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5930117701152175297.post-63995336414954045132018-03-19T07:55:00.000-07:002018-03-19T07:55:31.821-07:00A Tribute to Dave Dalthorp, The StatesmanOur community lost a great one this past week. Dave Dalthorp, nicknamed "The Statesmen" by our close peers passed away and left a lasting legacy behind him. I first met Dave in 1987 when I joined KNDU TV as Sports Director. He was genuine from the start, even though I was fresh out of college and I really didn't know what I was getting into. He always made me feel at ease with his tremendous support, no matter what the circumstances.

Dave was not only a mentor, but a great friend as well. I always knew I could talk to Dave about anything. His door was always open and he always listened. He always had great advice, and his best attribute was his ability to shield his employees from the sometimes harsh things that can happen in the corporate world we live in. He also never showed the stress he was going through.

Dave made many friends while serving as the Station Manager at KNDU TV. He was respected by everyone, and admired by all. He loved the WSU Cougars, and he was a die hard Pasco Bulldog. He loved to fish, and he loved to talk about fishing. I remember sharing a Salmon I caught and will never forget the look on his face when I gave it to him. I will never forget the 11 foot Sturgeon we caught at Hell's Canyon on a team building trip, and how proud he was of the catch, and his team.

He glowed when he talked about his wife Herta, and tears would come to his eyes whenever you talked about something that was dear to his heart. I miss having "a cold one" with Dave, but more importantly, I will miss the man.

May your wonderful soul rest in peace. Your family has a lot to be proud of.

RIP Dave Dalthorp, The Statesman.
It's about the support systems in your life. We all look forward to that special note, text, letter, e-card, or very rarely anymore, that special phone call from someone telling you how special you are to them.

For those of us that have been through a few of these days, it may not have the meaning it used to, but it's still an important day. Are you going through health issues? Maybe trouble at work? Are you having some challenges with your kids, or maybe a relationship?

Today is the day to reflect on those support systems in your life that make those difficult days that much better. The support systems that pick you up when you are down, or maybe center you when you get out of whack. These are the Valentines that touch our gut when we really need it. These are the ones that really matter.

It's time to pick up the phone and make someone's day. Put a smile on their face. Tell them how much you appreciate them. Make their day.

You will be glad you did.

Happy Valentine's Day!
I'm guessing 150,000 or so don't even know what a bogey is.

Who cares.

White pants for women are in, and you don't have to know anything about golf to have a good time at this event. To go from ski boots and layers to shorts and flip flops. Nobody was complaining here.

This was the second time I've attended this event and each one was a memorable one. We were fortunate to have passes to a corporate tent that lines the 18th fairway. Only the water hazard on the left side of the fairway separated us from the golfers. The scoreboard was straight across from us so we knew how everyone was doing.

They had a selfie station with different contraptions you could use in the photo op. Young, beautiful women were there to deliver drinks, you could learn a lesson on customer service here.

How big is it? The wait for the Uber ride only took an hour, people were throwing up in line, there were fights, we even got to watch movies and listen to music while we stood in line. I don't like rap but it didn't matter on this day. What a great weekend to celebrate the Super Bowl.

Every year they set records for attendance. It's not hard to figure out why. Add this to your bucket list.

This is the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Tom Moorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730177275245654046noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5930117701152175297.post-15407540409809258982018-01-19T07:52:00.000-08:002018-01-19T07:52:45.570-08:00The Healing Begins for the Cougar NationThe first text came in from a close friend and I couldn't believe it. "I'm getting word that Tyler Hilinski committed suicide today". My heart dropped. Not only in disbelief, but these are the texts that just don't come across my phone. Moments later my iPhone started blowing up. Texts were coming in from all over the country. People don't realize the nature of being a Cougar. It's a very small nation, and a tight one. I really can't recall anything that has gone so viral in such a short amount of time.

The next four hours literally dropped me to my knees. My close Cougar friends banter back and forth via text about a lot of things. Mike Leach and his no-run offense, coaching changes across the country, even predictions on what's going to happen next year. When are we going to name a new Athletic Director.
People are so excited about a versatile quarterback leading the troops next year. What an extra element Tyler Hilinski will bring to this offense. The future is bright. This tragedy was not supposed to be part of the equation.

Little did we know how much #3 was hurting. I lost my best friend to suicide years ago and I still have trouble processing it. I do know he did share with me the demons he was facing, but he was such a gregarious, positive guy that I didn't think it was that serious. I knew he was getting help, I would visit him at a halfway house frequently. I still wonder if I was still in town if I could have helped him. Unfortunately I would have to find out the hard way. I received a phone call that I lost my best friend.

There is something positive we can take from all of this. This will undoubtedly bring the whole Cougar Nation closer, specifically the football team and those close to it. It's so important that we all focus on the ' here and now', we just don't know when our time will come.

Tyler Hilinski's time came much too early. And the whole Cougar Nation is mourning because of it.

RIP #3
During the Christmas season I swear I watched a Christmas movie almost every night. Maybe it's because both my parents are gone and I'm living through these movies, I don't know. But one thing is true, there's always inspiring stories about people's passions, goals, values, and of course the sappy thing we call falling in love.

Last night I got excited because the movie this time was on the slopes. Love on the Slopes was all about people following their passions. Katrina Bowden (who plays Alex) a young aspiring writer trying to fulfill her life long dream. There's obviously something romantic about falling in love on the slopes but the message here was a lot deeper than that. Thomas Beaudoin (Cole) played an accomplished photographer fighting through his own fears. He was a shy, unassuming introvert who had problems opening himself up to people and doing the things important for his business, and his own personal growth. Both helped each other get out of their comfort zones and overcome their fears. In the meantime, they fell in love.

As we enter 2018, what are you doing to get out of your comfort zone and overcome your fears? Maybe something you've never done before but have always wanted to? Is it time to attack that fear that both of these actors were able to do with the help of each other?

Often times it takes another person we become close with who can help recognize our fears and help us get over them. Wishing you the presence of mind to achieve this in 2018.
Happy New Year!Tom Moorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730177275245654046noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5930117701152175297.post-4973844953616073042017-06-12T09:28:00.000-07:002017-06-12T09:28:28.344-07:00My trip to Semiahmoo and the beauty of having a dogJust last week I did something I haven't done in a long time. Even though my golf game has been lousy, I played in a major golf tournament. I've been battling tendonitis in my left thumb, which isn't a good thing either. I've arguably had the worst stretch of my illustrious golf career. I've missed the competition, your name being called out on the first tee, and just being around great players.

Bonfires every night weather permitting

One of the reasons I signed up for this event is because I have never been to Semiahmoo Resort, and what a great place it is. I was expecting a little more modern resort, but then realized how time flies and this place has been around a lot longer than I realized. I also was looking forward to playing both Semiahmoo and Loomis Trail, truly one of the best tracks in the northwest, with water on every hole.

It was a milestone of sorts for me during these three days. My scorecards had a little bit of everything, double bogeys, triple bogeys, I even sprinkled in a 9 on a par 5, something I've never done in competition before. It almost became comical, and all I could do was laugh. At the same time, an older guy I played with the last day dropped more F-bombs than I can remember. I hope to never be paired with him again.

We played in the pouring rain on the final day, and it reminded me of my junior days at Sahalee Country Club, where we used to sit and wait for it to stop raining, but it never did. It was refreshing, considering we don't see that much rain here in the desert in Southeastern Washington. It felt like home again.

When I traveled for this event I realized its a lonely existence being out there on the road. I frequented the Oyster Bar that sits right on the property. It was also telling how much I missed my dog. Bella is a huge part of everything I do. She travels with me to our place in Lake Chelan, she gives me the look when I leave, she greets me when I come home, she constantly brings me her Kong. She is truly the epitome of a companion, always there when you need her.

When I arrived home after being gone all week I was expecting her to snub me and be disappointed with my play. It was virtually the opposite, I've never seen her more excited. She was ripping around, sticking her butt up in the air, jumping on the couch and wanting a hug. Her buddy was home. She could care less how I played, or the numerous train wrecks I displayed in the tournament.
The beauty of having a dog.Tom Moorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730177275245654046noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5930117701152175297.post-84868621896088044572017-05-16T06:35:00.000-07:002017-05-16T07:14:27.973-07:00When you hire an advertising agencyWhen you hire an advertising agency you are putting your business in the hands of an expert in the field. You are creating more time for yourself to focus on the vision of your company.

Many people hire an advertising agency to provide a different perspective and plan with your marketing and branding. An Advertising Agency can provide an unbiased view of the marketplace, thus more efficiency in your return on investment (ROI). You are also eliminating numerous reps from different mediums calling on you, and of course every one of them will tell you their product is the best in the market.

You hire an advertising agency to free up time. Most small businesses don't have a marketing department. You are gaining expertise and someone who has close ties with research, tools, and knowledge in the industry that many small business don't have.

When you hire an agency you are putting your marketing and advertising in the hands of someone who really cares. A big portion of their business is built on referrals, and doing the best they can for your business is the ultimate goal.
It has everything the outdoors person would want, and beauty second to none.

This is Sun Valley, Idaho.

My trip this last weekend was a last minute one, a time to do some homework before the Great Wives Ski Trip coming up on February 24th, and a chance to spend some quality time with me. It's needed sometimes you know. Unfortunately for me history was made, Bald Mountain was closed two days in a row because of avalanche danger, the first time in over 25 years. We made up for it with two great days of skiing on Saturday and Sunday, you would never know it poured down rain two days in a row, this is the beauty of Sun Valley. It's hard to find a resort anywhere that does a better job of grooming their slopes.

Ketchum is more of a dinner town, unless you want to shop for expensive items, one of the draws to Sun Valley for the high affluent one. There's plenty of great restaurants to choose from, Ketchum Grill, The Pioneer Saloon, and Michel's Christiania Rest, I had the pleasure of enjoying fine dining at all of them. I enjoyed some live music at the newest addition to Ketchum, The Limelight Hotel, a spectacular modern beauty situated in the middle of town with an Aspen flare. It brought some controversy to the town when it was being built, but as my friend John said, "it brings us a city we didn't have".

I had a chance to catch up with John from the good ol' days, he is a great ambassador for the town and the mountain. 38 years in Ketchum can accumulate a lot of good history. We told a few old stories too. Some not worth sharing.
It was awesome to catch up with my cousin Susie, who lives in nearby Bellevue. We shared some cocktails at legendary Whiskey Jack's, she even brought her friend who has settled in nicely in Hailey from Wenatchee, WA.

Susie and Me

We capped off our visit with a nice day of skiing on Saturday, and lunch at the legendary Roundhouse, situated halfway up the mountain from the River Run Gondola. I felt like a local on Sunday morning with my friend Steve. We skied hard from 9am until 11. That's all you need on this mountain. It's about as good as it gets.

It's Monday morning and my legs are sore.

This is Sun Valley.
An action packed Thanksgiving Day, followed by a debacle at the Apple Cup in Pullman. Winning is a bonus these days so I didn't go in with many expectations, and there's nothing better than traveling in style.

Traveling in style

I can't think of a better way to go to the game than in a Mercedes Van, especially when you are equipped with a small keg, two big screen TVs on both sides, and plenty of wine. Not to mention the party cooler I packed with some treats that everyone liked. It's funny how the littlest things can make the world go round.

A trip to Pullman isn't complete unless you stop at Sonny's in Washtucna for a burger on the way back. The kind where the grease runs down your forearm. It doesn't get much better than that. It's all about sharing on Cougar Football Friday. I know the two gals that sampled
a bite of my burger sure appreciated it. It was fun had by all, despite the loss. There were many sporting a glow on this night. Football really is a side show for Cougar fans.

Thanksgiving weekend is all about football, spending time with family and friends, and rest and relaxation.

Mission accomplished.
This is a perfect time to give thanks to our past and present clients, and employees as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday. We continually tell our clients and partners there's nothing more powerful than telling your story, so here is ours.

When we embarked on this journey in November 2007, we never had ambitions of being an advertising agency. We started with an upscale direct mail product called GlossPak, and the next thing we knew we had 12 agency clients under contract. At that time it was too much to do both, the early mornings, late nights, and long hours were just too much. GlossPak was put on the back burner and we hit the ground running.

At Mooreshots Direct, we like to consider ourselves a 'boutique' agency. We believe we can give more value to our clients with one-on-one attention, and be as efficient as possible with their advertising budgets.

What we are most proud of is we have built our business on referrals. There is no bigger compliment than a referral from a client or friend. We have never chased business, and don't intend to. Mooreshots Direct always wants to make sure it's a good fit in the client/partner relationship.

As we approach 2017 many businesses are inundated with many mediums to choose from. With the resurgence of Digital in the media world, many are feeling pressure to try as many things as possible. At times it can be overwhelming for the advertiser. This is where we come in. Our job and our mission is to provide you the most creative, and efficient way of utilizing your advertising dollars. We take great pride in our mission statement, and will continue to follow it every day.

Our BUSINESS is advertising
Our GOAL is gaining market share for our clients
Our MISSION is the constant pursuit of excellence

Mooreshots Direct has helped a wide variety of clients over the past nine years, and will continue to do so. We will work hard every day and do our very best to brand your product or service in the most resourceful way possible. Because of our boutique agency approach, we are also timely in every promotion and take great pride that we very seldom miss a deadline. This gives peace of mind to our clients and one less thing for them to stress about.

I want to personally thank my former employees for their hard work, support, and dedication. Their loyalty has helped make us what we are today. I am truly honored and have learned a great deal from each and every one of you. I also want to thank my former partner Danny Traffas. Without you I wouldn't be where I am today.

A big thanks and a Happy Thanksgiving,
While the Golf Channel was already writing everyone off except Jordan Spieth after day one, it took 72 holes to decide the winner, in one of the biggest meltdowns in Masters history by the world's number two player.

Jordan experienced what all of us golfers go through, only us amateurs do it more frequently, which is why we aren't playing on the weekends on the PGA Tour.

This will be talked about for years and it will be interesting to see how if affects the young Texan. T.C. Chen was never the same after his double hit chip in the '85 US Open. Greg Norman never really recovered either after his meltdown at the Masters, eventually falling to Nick Faldo after building a huge lead after day 3. Doug Sanders earned unfortunate notoriety for taking four shots from just 74 yards on the final hole of the 1970 British Open at St. Andrews, when he missed a 3 foot putt to win--he lost by a single shot the next day in a playoff with Jack Nicklaus.

Enter Danny Willett. A virtual unknown to many in the golfing world--but those of us that know golf know he had a rhythm going on Sunday and you could feel that he was on his way to something special after Spieth's collapse on 12.

Sunday's final round was a true testament to the game of golf and how hard it can be under pressure.

It also proves how cruel the sport can be, even to the best players in the world.
It has been rated the top ski destination in the world. Two mountains, unbelievable terrain, a village to die for, and people from all over the world.

It's the home of the Peak 2 Peak, the highest and longest lift in the world.

This is Whistler, BC.

My first trip there was memorable to say the least. I realized it's a young persons world, but it wasn't stopping us. We fully embraced what the village had to offer with our ski-in, ski-out condo that looked right out at both gondolas that take you to either Blackcomb or Whistler.

Choose your pain, both are awesome.

The T Bar (right)

Whistler, BC is just a 7 hour drive from our Tri-Cities home and you will find everything you ever wanted in a ski resort, and more. All levels of skiers and snowboarders were there, some of which probably didn't belong, but that's the beauty of the sport. My friend fell off the steep T-Bar twice, but it wasn't stopping him. I still can't stop laughing at the expressions on the faces of the folks in the ski line when it happened. It was like everything in the world stopped, many of the people looked like they stopped breathing. It wasn't the first time he fell off that lift, we never saw him again on the hill that day, and I probably don't blame him. I rode up to the top with a young gal from San Diego, who was shivering the whole way up the lift. Many would understand considering the average temperature in San Diego is 78 degrees year round. When I saw her take a couple turns I was thinking she probably wished she was still there.

But that's the beauty of skiers and snowboarders. There's no fear when you get up on the mountain, it brings out the tenacity in so many of us.

We ate seafood, Italian, Thai, you name it, we even munched on popcorn with truffle oil while we were enjoying a night cap after a wonderful meal. We had oysters on the half shell, we enjoyed Poutine, a Canadian comfort food tradition. We drank wine from all over the world. We met people from all over the globe. The world is much better than the media makes it out to be.

The line on Family Day

Canada has a holiday called "Family Day". The lines that day reflected it after one of the gondolas broke down. The line stretched all the way through the village. That was an easy fix, we proceeded to down three bottles of bubbly. We learned quickly it probably wasn't a good idea for these 50-something legs, but heck, we are American skiers.

Bulldog (Margarita with a splash of Corona)

The weather changes quickly at Whistler-Blackcomb because of its coastal location. Our final day we were eating lunch at the top of Whistler and when we returned to our skis it was raining. We took a cruiser all the way to the village to a jam packed Longhorn Saloon. It was Super Bowl Sunday. We were soaked. Time for a "Bulldog" to take the edge off the day. Time to reflect on another great day.
This is Whistler, and I'm an American Skier.
Here's some tips that can help you become one of those people.

It's not always about the sale. To build trust with your clients you need to show them that you aren't always just looking for the sale. Show some empathy and interest in what they are doing in their lives, and with their business. Take the time to listen. Ask questions that can help you down the road. Show them you care more about them than just getting the sale, or telling them what you think they want to hear.

Have a strong sense of detail in everything you do. The great salespeople take care of details. They follow up and solve problems or mistakes, and they do it in a timely manner. They admit it when they've made a mistake. They don't make the same mistake repeatedly. These are just some of the things that build trust and respect with your clients. To know that a salesperson will take care of things and take accountability when things go wrong helps build trust in the selling process.

Never rip on the competition. There's a diamond in every rough. Every organization has its strengths that someone needs. Don't throw a competitor under the bus thinking it will give you an advantage and a better chance of getting the sale. It never works in the long run. In fact, it's a major turn off.

Never hesitate to say thank you. I see it all the time. The salesperson that can't even say thank you when you've sent them a nice order. The salesperson that doesn't even confirm that they have received it. The salesperson that doesn't appreciate even the small order that in the long run can mean so much. Don't be one of those people. If you don't appreciate things, your client will have a hard time respecting you.

Show your longevity. Salespeople come and go. The good ones don't. It's comforting to know that someone will be there when you need something. There's nothing more troubling than making the call and hearing "he/she no longer works here". Trust and respect comes when you know someone will be there to take care of you. Longevity is key.

Continuous education and learning. Refresh and change up what you do. Be a trailblazer in your industry, not a follower. Learn the new trends and don't be afraid to share them. Go to conferences or seminars introducing new products and services. Share them with your clients. Share success stories. There's nothing more powerful than sharing a success story or new idea with your clients.

Don't be an order taker. If you think you can just take orders then you need to find another line of work. Nobody respects the order taker.

And finally, as Coach Nick Saban said to his Alabama football team prior to the 2016 National Championship Game:

"You deserve to be here, but you are not entitled to anything".

Good luck!

He could never coach in a major market because the media would "gobble" him up like a Thanksgiving turkey. Yesterday on ESPN Radio in Seattle one of the media people said that Coach Leach couldn't even name many of the guys on his defensive unit because he doesn't care about defense.

I won't mention his name but his initials are Brock Huard.

Well, that quirky coach is doing a masterful job of keeping the attention off his players going into this week's Apple Cup. He gave a great rendition of why he doesn't talk about injuries. He said the starting quarterback will be decided :27 seconds before the game.

Who's getting the last laugh now.

In fact, the Vegas odds makers don't even have a line out yet because nobody knows if Luke Falk will play after suffering two concussions in consecutive weeks. Or was last week's injury something else that really isn't being disclosed?

Because of that quirky coach, we will never know.

Just a few weeks ago many of the Cougar supporters were wondering if Mike Leach really was the right guy for the job. I have to admit, I was one of them. He wasn't producing the wins expected for a $2.5 million coach. He didn't know how to manage the clock.

As we enter the final week of the season the Cougars are the 20th ranked team in the nation and could very well finish the year with 10 wins, barring a win in a bowl game. The Huskies, on the other hand, are battling to reach 6 wins and become bowl eligible. The Cougs enter the game with an impressive 8-3 record including 6 wins in their last 7 games. If it weren't for the last second missed field goal against Stanford, they could very well be playing for the Pac 12 North title.

The big turnaround for this year's team is on the defensive side of the ball. Alex Grinch has brought an attacking style of defense that has left many of the teams reeling. Oregon State Coach Gary Anderson mentioned to Husky Coach Chris Petersen following last week's game that the Cougar defense was the most physical group they played all year.

Pretty good considering that quirky coach couldn't even name many of those players.

Right Brock?
I had reached that point in my career where I was ready to go out on my own. I was tired of working and making money for someone else, it was time to take my experience on a new path. I made one phone call, it was to Danny Traffas.

In November of 2007 Mooreshots became incorporated and we were on the ground running. I am shocked and saddened by Danny's passing, and I will never forget how much he helped me and guided me. We partnered in business and had mutual respect, the perfect recipe for success. He was always that person that I could call when things weren't going all that well, if I needed advice, or if I needed anything at all, he was always there with a helping hand.

I could always count on him and his wisdom.

It is such a comforting feeling to have someone in business that you can rely on no matter what the circumstances. Danny filled that position with open arms and I can't thank him enough. He not only was a business partner, he became an even a better friend. He was someone I could always trust.

I hope you are making plenty of birdies now buddy. I will miss you.

RIP
Ever since I can remember I've been going to Lake Chelan to enjoy the beauty and the many amenities it has to offer. Four years ago we purchased a second home in Manson that has given us so much to be thankful for.

I thought the Wolverine Fire was bad but when it strikes so close to home in downtown Chelan, enough is enough. I wish there was something that could be done. Just when the real estate market starts taking off and more and more people are migrating that direction this happens.

It's just not fair.

Someone up there has a plan that just isn't very popular right now. The town depends so much on four months out of the year and the impact is devastating to the economy. The hospital was even shut down and evacuated. Power was out for over two days closing down stores. Roads were closed so people couldn't even get out. It's such a helpless feeling no words can express how many must feel.

Next week when we head over there for an extended vacation we will see the impact first hand. For the first time in my life I'm not looking forward to heading that direction. The little piece of heaven will not be the same.
We are proud to be working with the fastest growing RV dealership in the Northwest, and the number one travel trailer dealer in Eastern Washington.

Broadmoor RV SuperStore continues to expand with plans in the works for a second dealership right across the street from the existing one on St. Thomas Drive in Pasco. A lot of the success is attributed to a strong presence in electronic media, specifically TV and radio.

Over the past two years Broadmoor RV has been committed to more regional advertising and it is paying off. This month they will more than double their sales from a year ago. Year to date sales are up 71% over the previous year. In a time when advertisers are bombarded with so many mediums to choose from, Broadmoor RV SuperStore continues to be loyal to television and radio. Sales are pouring in from Alaska, Montana, British Columbia, Spokane, Seattle, Lewiston, Wenatchee, and numerous cities in Oregon just to name a few.

Your destination store in Pasco carries many of the top brands in 5th Wheels and Motorhomes and has over 600 units available "All In One Place" in Pasco. Visit their huge campus to see for yourself or visit them online at broadmoorrv.com.
The blue sky dominates, the wind is calm, and the birds are the happiest little people on earth.

Yesterday my pup and I hiked Echo Ridge, the scenery never disappoints anyone, ever. There's still a sketch of snow in shady parts, treacherous in some areas because it melted and then froze again, making your footwork important if you don't want to fall on your head.

I almost fell twice.

Bella led the way, the trail blazer she is. Her little bear bell helps me locate her easier even though she stayed close by at all times, I think she was more worried about me than I was about her.

Unseasonably warm temperatures forced the Echo Valley Ski Area to close down, you can still see the markings from the groomers on the family friendly slopes.

After our hike I had breakfast at the legendary Apple Cup Inn, a veggie omelet complimented with a mimosa, the perfect treat after a nice venture to Echo Ridge. There was golf on TV in the bar, go figure.

I also visited Karma Vineyards and enjoyed the champagne flight, of course the pink was my favorite. The day was topped off by a blue cheese bacon burger at a friend's house that overlooks the lake. The picturesque view from their pimped out barn couldn't be a better way to cap off the day.

Just another weekend in the valley.

I don't blame him.

As a former reporter myself I'm a little embarrassed by some of these people. They ask stupid questions, and most of the time they aren't even asking the right questions.

For example, I watched three different interviews with Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Michael Bennett.

Guess what they asked about? Marshawn Lynch.

So how would you feel if you are Richard, Earl, or Michael? You aren't here to ask about me and how I feel about the game? All you can do is ask about Beastmode?

I think these reporters get everything they deserve. Richard Sherman said it best. The commissioner should be forced to speak once a week as well.

And he can brag about how he just fined Marshawn Lynch.Tom Moorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07730177275245654046noreply@blogger.com0
